Training[edit]
Training is the major task handled by AFPRESCOM. Its primary modes of enlisting reservists ; Military Orientation Training Course (MOTC) and the Basic Citizens Military Training (BCMT). Graduates are given enlisted ranks based on reciprocity of their civilian experience in the military environment.
Reserve officers are commissioned based on Armed Forces of the Philippines policy on (direct) commissionship in the reserve force known as Circular Nr 4 series of July 2010. Those who are commissioned through this source subsequently undergo an officer orientation program. Many officers in AFPRESCOM are licensed physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, teachers, lawyers and chaplains. Some are directly commissioned as Lieutenant Colonels through the commissioning program of National Defense College of the Philippines as graduates of the Masters in National Security Administration.
Other than time-in-grade and merit promotions, rank adjustments are authorized depending on civilian qualifications.

Events and Activities
- I. Cadet Activities
- A. Training Days
Classroom lectures and field exercises are the bulk of the training and are conducted both within the premises of the university and Fort Bonifacio. These are comprised of theoretical lectures in campus classrooms aided by various instructional media, succeeded by practical application on field. Field trainings, and actual drills such as marching, rifle drills, ceremonies, and exercises are done in the 5th and 6th floor of Enrique M. Razon Sports Center and on the parading grounds of Marine Barracks Rudiardo Brown in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City - B. Camp Visit
The 247th NROTCU, DLSU-M offers one training day providing the cadets a chance to catch a glimpse of what is life inside a naval camp. This enables the cadets to widen their perspective of everything that they have learned in ROTC, as their participation in this activity serves as their Final Examination for the first trimester of their NSTP – the Military Science 1 (MS-1). They are toured around the vicinity of the camp, then afterwards board a naval vessel and fire an M16 rifle. - M16 Familiarization Firing
Here, all cadets get the chance to hold and fire a real M-16 rifle with live ammunition. But of course, prior to this, the cadets will have to undergo a dry firing session on a previous training day to prepare them for the actual thing. Their performance in this activity contributes to the outcome of their final grade in MS-1. - Shipboarding
Not everyone gets a chance to board a naval vessel, particularly a typical college student, except if he/she is a DLSU Naval ROTC cadet. In this activity, cadets are toured inside battlesips used by the Philippine Navy (PN), enter their engineering chambers and ride their manually operated guns and artillery. - C. Hell Day
The Hell Day is a timeless tradition of the 247th NROTCU, DLSU-M wherein all cadets undergo a sequence of rigorous exercises for a given span of time.

The enrollment of students who will undergo the National Service Training Program (NSTP) begins after their NSTP Orientation during the first trimester of the school year. The orientation dwells in the introduction of the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), Literacy Training Service (LTS) and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programs, for the students to be briefed with the NSTP component of their choice. After which, the students will then enrol their desired NSTP component on the same day. - B. Civil Military Operations (CMO)
CMOs are outreach activities conducted by the unit in order to fulfil the Naval Reserve Command’s (NAVRESCOM) mission, which is to assist in the socio-economic development of the country. No monetary transactions involving the cadets are dealt in conducting CMOs – it is the unit who shoulders all expenses and arrangements necessary to make the activity possible.
